Nelson Pinot Noir 2006
Richmond Plains Pinot Noir is made in an elegant, appealing style which can be enjoyed when young but will also benefit from a little cellaring allowing it to develop more complex characters.
All Richmond Plains grapes are grown on our own vineyard. Both the growing of our grapes and winemaking are certified organic by BioGro New Zealand.
Nose: Dark cherry, chocolate, raspberry and herbal aromas with hints of savoury, chary oak.
Palate: Red cherry, boysenberry, blackberry flavours with some earthy forest floor and spicy notes. Medium bodied, fruity Pinot Noir that is soft and easy drinking with a lovely lingering finish. Enjoy with salmon, lamb or poultry roast.
Vegan: This wine is suitable for Vegan diets.
Vintage: Grapes bunches were thinned and hand harvested to maximize flavours and fruit quality.
Winemaking: The fruit was crushed and de-stemmed and transferred to open fermenters. After a period of cold maceration for 4 days the juice was inoculated for fermentation. Regular hand plunging over 10 days was carried out in the winery. Approximately 70% of the juice was transferred into a mixture of French oak barriques with the remainder being held in tank.
Alcohol: 12.5% Acidity: 5.5 g/L Residual sugar: Dry
“Grapes were hand-harvested from their McShane Road vineyard. Medium-light red in colour, the nose displays sweet cherry, plum and subtle cedar characters. It’s fruity and vibrant with crisp acidity and fine tannins. A pleasant and approachable Pinot Noir.”
